Sir Richard Charles Nicholas Branson is a British business person, entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist. He is the founder of the Virgin Group, which controls more than 400 companies around the world.




He is the only daredevil entrepreneur to build eight separate billion-dollar companies in eight different industries. Richard Branson’s few of business venture includes Virgin Megastores, Virgin Mobiles, Virgin Airlines and Virgin Galactic, the Virgin Spaceflight Company and many more.

Branson was born in Blackheath, London in the year 18 July 1950. Because of his Dyslexia, Branson was always struggling in studies during his school days. He dropout from school at the age of 16 years to start magazine named “Student” a youth-culture magazine for students.




Soon this led to the birth of Virgin, a mail-order record business. He made a quick buck by selling
advertisements to local businesses. The Virgin Records success led to more record deals with iconic artists such as the Rolling Stones, Culture Club, and many other artists. These bands helped Virgin Records to grow as the top record companies worldwide.




In the year1984, Branson branched out into his biggest business venture – forming Virgin Atlantic Airways and he started competing in a market dominated by big national carriers such as British Airways. However, in the year 1992, Branson had to sell Virgin Records to EMI for £500m to help keep struggling Virgin Atlantic afloat. Selling Virgin Records wasn’t easy for Branson, it was mentally traumatic for him. He was even crying after signing the contract.




Apart from having to sell Virgin Records, Branson also suffered failures from other business venture such as Virgin Cola, Virgin Cosmetics, and Virgin Brides. He always learned something new from every single failure of his and used it as a stepping stone to future success.




Richard Branson has diversified his businesses from Music to Media, Finance, Outer Space and Everything in-between.




Branson’s entrepreneur journey isn’t just about creating wealth, but also about putting it to worthy causes. He truly believes in giving back to society.




Richard Branson has been an active philanthropist to the educational charities in many countries. Branson even pledged $3 billion in the next ten years to address the major issue of climate change /global warming.
